If you rear animals and sell the meat directly to the public, we want to promote your buniness for FREE.

Our aim is to make buying meat directly from farmers in the UK more mainstream and if we tried to charge farmers to be on this registry there's no way it's going to take off.

The less time you need to spend seeking customers, the more time you have to do what you do best - farming.

Is there such a thing as a free lunch?

As the old saying goes, there is no such thing as a free lunch, we just don't want you to pay for it. By using our own technical skills and existing website hosting, we have been able to set up this website with minimal costs. Our plan is to keep this a free service for as long as possible.

We will be seeking funding sources in order to improve the website, promote it and keep it going for many years to come. In the meantime, the costs will be covered by us (Baobab IT Services Limited).

How you can help

If buying meat directly from farmers is to be more mainstream, we need as many farms listed on this directory as possible. Likewise, we need to encourage more and more members of the public to use it. Your main competition comes from the supermarkets so, although it's counter intuitive, it actually makes sense to get famers like yourself added to the directory, even if they are selling the same thing as you. So, please encourage all the farmers you know, who sell direct to the public, to get in touch with us to register their farm.
