About Us

Meat eater. Small Business Owner. Geek. Man on a mission.

Yes, it's a fact, and I'm not ashamed to admit it - I like my food and enjoy eating good meat. I was initially attracted to the idea of buying direct from a farmer because it was cheaper that way. Having bought a whole lamb from one farmer, a whole pig from another and a box of beef from yet another farmer it became obvious to me that the meat was much tastier and knowing where it came from was an added factor in the enjoyment.

I believe that a big factor limiting what I've bought and when I've bought it was because I didn't know what was available. Buying direct is not mainstream enough and in each instance I heard about the farmer through word of mouth or, in one instance, by chance finding a business card in my local pub.

As a small business owner and keen promoter of the 'buy it locally' principle I appreciate just how beneficial it is to our economy for people to buy local. And who could fail to have seen in the press that the British Farming community need all the help that they can get.

Knowing I had the technical skills to build websites, the seed was planted for me to do something. I set myself the goal of significantly increasing the amount of meat being bought directly from British Farmers. Ambitious, yes, impossible, no! I can do what I can but help will be needed.

Step 1. Built a website to help people find their local farmers selling meat. Task complete!
Step 2. Now I need YOUR help, please join me on this mission. Buy your meat from a local farmer, tell people you've done it, explain the benefits, evangelise. Let's make this happen!
